Iron Cross Karate

Iron Cross Karate is for ages 4 thru adult. We teach our students American Karate and the 4 pillars of Iron Cross Karate are:

1. Character Development
We want to develop well-rounded athletes that become strong not only physically, but by their mind, heart, spirit and attitude.

2. Sport & Athleticism
Students will have the opportunity to compete at Karate competitions as they grow within our program.

3. Self Defense
Our prayer is for our students to never actually have to use the skills they learn in class to protect themselves, however, if they are put in a situation, they will be well prepared.

4. Tradition
It is always important to know where you come from. Our students will learn why we say specific words/phrases

4-6 year old Classes

Our 4-5 year old Karate classes are twice a week for 30 minutes each. This is a fun an exciting class for our younger students where we focus on the fundamental body mechanics and etiquette of martial arts. We begin teaching skills like: knowing their left from their right, saying yes sir and no sir and introduce basic martial arts drills through a workout with games and other physical activities. Some examples of these drills are bag work, pad holding, and partner drills. This class prepare our 4-6 olds for the speed and structure of the 7+class.

7-12 Year Old Classes

Our 7-12 year old Karate classes are twice a week for 1 hour each. These classes consist of fast pace workouts and exciting physical activities, while also learning the history of martial arts. We bring the four pillars of our program to the front and center. In class students learn about the sport of karate, experience what it’s like to be an athlete, gain knowledge about modern day self defense, and grow in confidence with everyday life situations. This is a great class to start your martial arts journey. This class also helps prepare our students for the details and speed of the 13-17 year old class.

13-17 year old Classes

Our 13-17 year old Karate classes are twice a week for 1 hour each. These classes teach students the fundamentals of karate while they work their way to a black belt. Students will focus on self-defense and sport techniques that will build their confidence on and off the mat. In addition to working muscle memory skills, we focus on the importance of creating good habits when reaching our goals. These classes go more depth on techniques our younger students may not understand. Our goal is to better prepare students for black belt and teach them how to apply their martial arts skills in everyday life.

Adult (18+ Year Old) Karate / Self-Defense Classes

Our adult Karate classes are once or twice a week, depending which class option you prefer. Our adult classes are a modern self-defense program that takes inspiration from traditional martial arts from all over the world and blends them together so our students get a bit of everything. In these classes we teach the skills it take to reach fitness and martial arts goals but also modern self-defense concepts that work in everyday situations. Some of the concepts covered are situational awareness, stand up and ground grappling techniques, weapon disarms, and many others. Our adult classes are fun, exciting and a great way to get in shape while learning how to protect yourself and your family.

Why take Karate?

Our goal is to help create athletes who are not only physically strong but strong in all aspects of life. Students will be trained to understand how their own body can be their greatest asset in any situation. This includes their brains and knowing when to walk away. Karate is a sport built off respect and self-defense. It is not about fighting. Karate gives students confidence to take on any challenge they may face and respecting anyone they encounter. Karate techniques can be applied to when students have a math test coming up they need to study for, a presentation they are expected to give to a room full of people, or they run into a bully who will not leave them alone. Karate teaches students to believe in themselves when tough moments come in life. These moments might knock you down, but karate teaches us to not let tough moments keep us down. This sport is a great way to learn body dexterity, balance, flexibility, and overall improves one’s physical and mental health. The benefits of martial arts are endless and will transition to other sports and/or life challenges students will experience.
